GMC Repair: fuel pump not running, fuel pump relay, side fender

Question
i have a 93 gmc jimmy 4x4,4.3.change pump once, runned a couple mo.and quit.had bad wiring from top of tank too top of pump. i fixed that.running doing fine, then one day my son using it hit a guardrail done lite damage too driver side front fender,i replaced radiator support bracket, left fender and inner fender, now it quit again, pulled pump out its good.check voltage at pigtail at tank plug, one has voltage, the other dosent have the 3 sec pump build up,iam not getting the 3 sec,i believe it is the fuel pump relay, where is it,chilton book said it is on driver side fender,i cant find it ,do i need to trace the wire from the tank too the front

Answer
If NOT mistaken the fuel pump relay and the A/C relay are IDENTICAL. Swap out these 2 relays and see if the 2 second pump runs now.

The relay is cheap to buy. Buy a NEW one and you will see what your looking for. You should carry a spare as they do fail quite frequently and I would suspect that the old relay is damaged due to the previous repair problem with the wiring.
