GMC Repair: Camaro Transmission, tranny problems, good shape

Question
I hope you can help me with a tranny problem on a 84 Camaro.  The high gear slips. It starts off fine and changes twice with no apparent slippage, then in high gear it begins to slip. Low gear and reverse are fine. Do you think this could be an easy and cheap fix or should I try to find a buyer for a 21 year old car with tranny problems.
Thanks
Tony

Answer
hello tony
rember the older trannys had valves to make them shift threw the gears . it could be a bad valve . but the high tech shops of to day is going to charge a arm and a leg because of the year of the tranny . which dont get me wroang they were the best trannys in thire day and the pelople who use to work on theys trannys are geting exstink it is just to bad a good rebuld for that tranny should run around 450 to 500 and no more . i would see if you cant find a good honest mech who as worked on thoes trannys . and keep your car if the car is in good shape .

let me know if you need more help . i could get it done for you but i am in new york .
