GMC Repair: 1995 gmc transmission whine, gmc jimmy, whine

Question
Pete,
My 1995 GMC Jimmy (bless her soul) has been a good to me. However, within the past few weeks I have been getting a whinning noise from the front end when I put the girl into gear (not Park or N). When I accelerate in gear I can hear the whine increase in frequency. If I put her in N and give it gas there is no whine. Is the transmission in trouble? She has 175k, not sure if I can put any more cash into it. Please advise, thanks in advance for your time. A

Answer
Hello Adam
They are a great truck . Now the problem it could be a worn band which would be replaceing the band or it could be a bearing on the way out . To be sure bring it to a tranny shop they will do a free diagnostiac test and let you know how much it would be for the repair a band is costly and a bearing . if you want to have the work done u would be better to have it rebult would a good warentery . then the truck would give you many more years of serivce .

Good luck to u please rate my serivice pete
