GMC Repair: 2001 Aurora 4.0 crank sensors, crankshaft sensor, warranty periods

Question
I am getting a P0385 code. cks "B" circuit malfunction. I have replaced the lower cks sensor,
& did not fix the problem.
My ALLDATA shows the lower sensor being sensor "A". My HLEM 1996 ser. manual shows the lower sensor as "B". My Olds dealer only refers to
the sensors "upper or lower".
Is crankshaft sensor "B" the upper or lower?

thank you for your help

Answer
You CAN'T use a 1996 book to diagnose a 2001 vehicle problem. Nor can you use an OLDS book.

To be perfectly honest, I do NOT have a 2001 OEM book as due to the longer warranty periods, I don;t see that many late model vehicles. Once the vehicles start to get 4 years old and I start gettin more 2001 vehicles, Then I will invest in the 2001 books.

Use you scanner and see what values you have and the one that shows incorrect values, Go unplu one of the sensors either A or B and see if your data changes.
