GMC Repair: 1994 pontiac sunbird, 1994 pontiac sunbird, pontiac sunbird

Question
Autohelp,  My girlfriend has a 1994 sunbird ( 2L. 4 cyl ) that I was replacing the heater blower on, and when I went to start the car it ran for 3-4 seconds ( as if trying to pull power ) then died. I noticed that before it died the rpm's were going up and I currently have power to the dome, door, and headlights, along with the lighter. I checked the main fuse box and none are blown. my first guess would be in the ignition and I don't know how to get at it.
I can turn the key and get nothing, but I have power to the fuse box. Any ideas or options would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.
P.S   Is there an actual ignition fuse somewhere?

Answer
OK, You had NO problems PRIOR to your replacing the blower motor, CORRECT ?.

Does the blower motor WORK ?. What else on the vehicle does NOT work ?.

Go back to where you were working on installing the blower motor and see if you accidently left or knocked something loose.

Is there a possibility that you shorted out the blower fan power wire to a ground source when you were installing the motor ?.

Take a look at all of the fusible links that are usually at the starter post where the POSITIVE battery cable attaches. You will find several rubber coated wires about 4 inches in length that connect to a regular plastic covered wire(s). Take a test light and probe these fusible links at the point where they connect to the plastic coated wire(s) and see if the test light does NOT illuminate.

If you find one or more that do NOT illuminate the test light, You will have to replace these fusible link(s) of which you can buy at most any auto parts store.

Also check to see if you have battery voltage at the blower motor RED wire that attaches to the blower motor. If you do NOT have battery voltage, Your problem is most likely the fusible link(s) as said above.

let me know.

ALWAYS keep in mind, Just because a part is NEW, does NOT mean it is 100% functional. It could be a bad blower motor. Did you TEST it BEFORE you installed it ?.
