GMC Repair: GMC steering column, shoe laces, tilt wheel

Question
I have 1989 gmc full size truck, and the steering wheel is now wobbling as through the tilt wheel is worn out, however this not at the tilt wheel area, but slightly lower, is there any to fix this, and how? Also is there any danger of driving till i can get it fixed. Thanks

Answer
Disassembly of the internal steering column components is VERY COMPLEX die to the numerous small parts and the obvious SERIOUS possibility of accidently deploying the steering wheels AIR BAG (if appliacble) to your vehicle.

There is a PRECISE procedure for disconnecting the battery voltage and the BACKUP voltage supply to the air bag BEFORE you start disconnecting it from the steering wheel.

ONE mistake and you can be KILLED due to the HIGH PRESSURE during deployment of the air bag.

I STRONGLY suggest that you BITE THE BULLET and leave this to a professional who has the technical skills and special tools required to perform this repair.

Continued driving of the vehicle in this condition is ALWAYS dangerous. Would you ride your bicycle at 50 miles per hour with your shoe laces untied ?.
