GMC Repair: 1997 Chev Blazer 4.3 Vortec Engine, exact cause, blazer

My "Check Engine" light has been coming on intermitantly for a couple of weeks and it has been hard on fuel. Any suggestions on what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated.

Anytime the CHECK ENGINE light illuminates there is a problem with the vehicles emissions system. there are approx 60 different possible reasons WHY the light illuminates. You will need to have the code(s) retrieved from the computer by a qualified repair facility before any GUESSES can be made as to the exact cause.
