GMC Repair: 92 Park Avenue transmission downshift, side fender, vacuum lines

Question
The transmission does not downshift when the gas pedal is depressed.   It started while my son was driving last night.

The fluid is not bright red. It is somewhat dark but do not notice any burnt smell.

I found a deteriorated hose going to the canister inside the driver's side fender. I assumed this is a vacuum line and could create a problem. I replaced the vacuum lines, but it did not help. I took it for a longer drive. I manually shifted the gears. It seems to have no shifting between 1st and 2nd. Ok from 2nd to Drive, and no shift between Drive and overdrive.

Answer
hello jerry
this should be brought to a good tranny shop so they can put it on a diagnostic test . to see if you have a bad senser . and i mean shift senser . it is common to happen or could be a problem with the compuiter it self good luck to u and the diagnoxtic test is free in most tranny shops pete
