GMC Repair: Changed The IAC Valve, east coast transplant, digital multimeter

Question
I Changed The IAC Valve And It Is No Beter. If I Try To Hold It At A Fast With The Peddle The Engine Keeps
Dying Off And You Have To Pump It To Keep It Going.
Let It Warm Up 5 Minets And The Problem Goes Away.
Should I Get A Bomb.Or Maybe A Truck Sales Man.

Answer
FIRST ITEM: NEVER start a NEW question. ADD to your original question as I have no idea what we are even working on. I get 40 to 60 questions DAILY on 2 different boards and unless you ADD to your original question, I do not have the ORIGINAL information.

David,

The FIRST thing you need is PATIENCE and an understanding of how the electronics works. It is basically very simple and WHY people and repair facilities PANIC when the word "COMPUTER" is said I have no idea.

In over 25+ years I have YET to find a problem that a solution could not be determined and or corrected.

There are only 4 fault elements:

1. Problem caused by owner driving habits.
2. A manufacturing error.
3. An untrained, Don't want to learn, automotive technician.
4. Somebody, Who has NO clue WHAT-SO-EVER as to what they
are doing to try and fix you problem. In most cases thay
  ADD to the problem.

How knowledgeable mechanically are you ?. can you use ALL functions of a DIGITAL MULTIMETER ?.

If you are, We can run some basic tests and you give me your answers and I will tell you if they are RIGHT or WRONG.

I used to give people the values I was looking for and they would NOT do the tests and come back and tell me that they DID the tests and the values were the same as mine. I don't do that anymore just for this reason.

Let me know,
