GMC Repair: Horn, fusible link wires, beam headlights

Question
Well it is a 91 and I have had it for 4 years.  There was no anit theft system on it.  About the only other thing that might help to know is the head lights stoped working and only work in the highbeam position so we have switched them around so we can turn the headlights on without the high beams.

The horn did not go at the same time as the headlights and we did try replacing the switch box for the headlight problem with no luck.

It is such a strange problem I am not sure it is one that can be easily answered.  BUt I thought I would ask incase it is a common problem.

Hi,
I have a horn problem.  It will only work with the car off and they keys out of the igniton.  Not much use for when you actually need it!

My car is a 91 GM Tracker.

Have you ever heard of this? Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

My husband says the fuse seems to be fine and is at a loss as to what is the problem.

Thanks,
Michelle

If you have had ANY previous work of ANYKIND WHAT-SO-EVER performed on the car PRIOR to this problem, I need to know.

Does this vehicle have an ANTI-THEFT system in it/>

If not, I would check the horn relay, But this is a remote possibility without knowing any of the above.

Answer
The HORN and headlights share the same or inter-connected FUSIBLE LINK wires that also operate your LOW BEAM headlights.

Why don't you get this simple problem with the headlights FIXED PROPERLY and the same for your horn.

It should take all of about 15 minutes to diagnose and repair these 2 problems. (excluding parts if required).
