GMC Repair: gmc coolant leak and windshield wiper problem, e mail address, gmc sonoma

Question
Vehicle is a 1997 GMC Sonoma

1.  Coolant seems to be leaking from the rear of the water pump around a silver plate/gasket, where it is mounted to the pump with five bolts.  What is the problem?

2.  The windshield wipers do not move, but I can hear the motor trying to move wipers.  If I manually move the wipers with my hand, they will go up to the top of the window and back down, but will not cycle again on their own.  I read there are several parts to the motor; a relay, a circuit board(/) and the motor itself.  Where do I start looking?

Thanks for the help.

Answer
Question # 1: have you had any work done in this area of the water pump ?. As it is unusual that it leaks at this spot unless it has been worked on or some of the VERY LONG water pump bolts were removed for some reason.

If the VERY LONG bolts were removed for some reason. you will have to drain the ant-freeze and coat the threads of these very long bolts witha a silicone sealer and reinstall them. wait a few hours and re-install your anti-freeze.

Question # 2: This is a typical control board/ wiper motor failure and you would be wise to REPLACE it.

NOTE: the circuit board does NOT come with the motor, It MUST be purchased seperately.

I would like to have your old wiper motor and circuit board, Although retired I still rebuild various components for pocket money.

The motor and circuit board will ship to 87005-0273 in New Mexico.
