GMC Repair: Heater core, antifreeze coolant, heater hoses

Question
Hello and thank you for your time, i have a 1994 jimmy, the heater is blowing out hot air and musty smoke when i turn the heat on, its smells very stronge of antifreeze/coolant, could it be the heater core?, if so when i take the dash out to do it is there any special way/recomendations on doing so?, thank you for your time and hope to hear from you soon

Answer
Sounds like a heater core leak to me also. Check to make sure that the heater hoses are tightly clamped at the heater hose inlet and outlet pipes.

This is NOT an easy task. It can be done but take your time and make drawings of what goes where BEFORE you take it apart.
