GMC Repair: 2001 Buick Regal power seats, buick regal, regal ls

Question
I have a 2001 Buick Regal LS and my driver's side power seat won't move forward. It is stuck back as far as it will go and I no longer can reach the pedals to drive it. I was wondering if it could be a fuse but I think that may be unlikely since the seats can still move up and down. Do you have any ideas what the problem could be. I would hate to have to take it to the dealership and have them charge me hundreds of dollars to look at it and then find out that it was a simple repair that my husband could have taken care of. Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Answer
The first thing you need to do is some diagnostics. It could be a problem with the seat switch or it could be a problem with the power seat electric motors or the cable/gearing transmission. Why GM calls it a transmission, Is anybodys guess. The transmission is simply the main gearing/cable electrical module under the seat that operates the various electric motors to move the seat.

It could be the seat switch ($45.00). motor within the seat transmission assembly ($45.00 plus $80.00 labor). Could be complete seat transmission ($350.00)

Your going to have to get it diagnosed.
