Acura Repair: Acura RSX headlamp, windshield washer fluid, purchase bulbs

QUESTION: I recenetly replaced my headlamps, ( with the help of a mechanic). They are really in a tight spot on the drivers side. The same bulb has again gone out in under 2 months. Do you have any suggestions? I thought it might be a fuse but not sure if the headlamp is on it's own fuse. Also the high beam on that side works.

ANSWER: Hi Stu,

Make sure you don't touch the bulb when changing the bulb as the bulb will burn out much sooner. Also what type of bulbs are you using? Are they the same one's the manufacturer provides or are they H2 or high blue, after market ones?

hi Stu,

With aftermarket bulbs they tend to burn hotter and will burn out faster then standard bulbs. When replacing the bulbs remove the windshield washer fluid spout on the driver side it just clips in, that will give you more room on that side and for the passenger side there is a reservoir there I believe it is for the power steering fluid, that can also be moved it is connected there by a clip.

Try not to touch the bulb and perhaps purchase bulbs that come with a 1 year warranty that way when it does blow you can get a replacement for free. I usually purchase 3 packs of cheap bulbs for about 25 dollars a piece, that way when it goes and I know they will I have a pair in my car if I'm traveling long distance and a pair in my garage so I can change them as soon as they blow. It's a bit of an inconvenience but that's what you have to do sometimes in order to have nice lights for a decent price.
