Acura Repair: Acura head replacement, timing pulley, rubber seal

Question
Well, actually I have checked the engine block a number of times and have found no such problem with an extra ring or "rubber seal" on the block from the old filter. The car actually was not overheating per se.....but the timing belt actually broke and I found that no damage had been done to the pistons, so I replaced the head realizing that the timing pulley had been cracked and I wanted to cover all possible situations in doing the full repair.

Hope this information is useful and I look forward to hearing from you regarding a cure to this delima!

In addiiton, I understand that there is a way to remove the oil filter mounting "union" that has the threads for screwing the filter onto the block, and that a product called "Honda Bond" can be applied to alleviate issues with leaks around where the threads screw into the block........if u are familiar with this, please give me info as to how this might be accomplished.

-----Question-----
I have a 1997 Acura 2.2 CL coupe, and had the head replaced along with new timing belt and radiator. Each time I attempt to start the vehicle now, oil seeps profusely from around the oil filter (takes a while to start and seems the oil pressure builds up slowly).
I also am noticing that I get a puff smoke coming from the radiator where fluid is added. I cannot for the life of me figure out what could be going wrong, i've done this same type work on many accords with same engine.............Please Help!

sounds like your oil filter has an extra ring on it. on every oil filter there is a rubber ring so it can seal on the motor. im guessing you replaced the head/ radiator because it was over heating? if your motor was too hot the ring would have melted on the engine block. and when the oil filter was replaced, it can not fit flush with the motor anymore. i would definitely check that. and with the radiator, i would just check to see if it is the right size cap and it is on right and tight.

Answer
your motor may also have an oil cooler on the back. it sounds like that may have been damaged when the belt snapped.

at the back of the engine you can see it in this picture.

it is right where the filter screws on. check to see if the hoses maybe came unplugged. this might prevent the filter from sitting flush with the block. im not sure if it is safe to remove it but i would check there first.
