Thanks for the answer. Could you follow up on question number 2 about getting the return line into the tank.

The text above is a follow-up to ...

-----Question-----
I am the original owner of a 1974 spyder still in mint shape and runs like a top. My rubber fuel lines are beginning to leak and should be replaced. Two problems:

1. 3/8" fuel line does not fit. Did Alfa use 10 millimeter or 7/16" line.

2. How does one replace the return line that runs back into
the tank. There's no nipple connect, it seems to just run
into a hole on the side of the fuel tank.

Thanks for your time.

-----Answer-----
Replace all the coolant hoses.

It is always a hassle finding a hose to be forced on and I forget the size (I use a caliper to measure). But, it has to be forced on.  The return line (1/4" I think) does go to a nipple that may be rusted away. JB Weld will make a good repair. As only 3/8 and 7/16 are easily available I think the 3/8 is the one to use for the main line.  You might try a specialty rubber hose house in your area if 10mm seems to be it.

Answer
The return line goes in at the top of the tank. Drop the tank and you will see.  Your tank may or may not have a booster pump inside in which case the output will be a little different but the return line still goes in at the top of the tank.  Also on top of the tank is a cannister that is the liquid/vapor separator.
