Alfa Romeo Repair: alfa ignition problem, quarter tank, car stalls

Hello Sir. I can see that you know a lot about alfas. I have recently bought my 164 made in 1991. Car has several problems:
1. I can only start car from the second attempt, it crancks for about 3-4 seconds first time, from the second attempt starts after 1 second. I have changed fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs recently.
2. Also car stalls when there is only 1/4 of the tank left. I have to restart it on every traffik light or stop sign.

Can you please advice something.

Did you change with a new or used pump.  Did you replace the check valve on the output of the fuel pump. It could also be an ignition switch starting to fail. As for the stalling with a quarter tank--I suspect that the fuel return is too close to the fuel pickup in the tank.  While you are in there make sure the pickup sock/strainer is ok.
