Alfa Romeo Repair: Alfa 147 Selespeed problem, alfa 147, battery cables

Question
Hi,
I have an Alfa 147 Twinspark 2.0L 2002 with about 21,000Km. Yesterday it rained in my city and I drove my car as the streets only had very few water on them (it was a regular rainy day). I left my car parked in neutral but when I tried to start it today the computer says the car is in Reverse gearing, but it is not as I can push the car and it moves without problems, so it is in neutral gearing. Is there a sensor that could be wet or a cable that I can check? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also,
Do you know where can I get a manual (technical) for my car? I tried datamanuals.net but my car is not on their list.

Regards,
Jorge Figueroa

Answer
Try this: remove battery cables at the battery and clean the contacts then, before reattaching the cables touch them together for 10 seconds. Then reattach the cables. Always, disconnect the negative cable first and reattach the negative cable last.

Try www.alfaowner.com for suggestions on manuals. I am in the USA and have no data for newer models.
