I have a 1987 Bertone. Replaced the clutch. Still have difficulty getting into 5th gear. Periodically it will shift, but pop out when slowing. However, it will shift into 5th at 3000 rpm smoothly, but not higher. Is this the fork or a gear problem or something else? Appreciate your help. Thank you

Answer -
If the fluid gets low in the transaxle, the fifth gear bushing is the first to start seizing. Usually we fill with atf and run with wheels off the ground for a half hour or more and the bushing unsticks. But, in this case you may have a bent fork also-the gear itself is easy to get to. But try the atf trick first. And then refill with synthetic 75w-90 GL-5 before putting wheels to the road again.

Answer
Yes. However, I forgot something

That something is the adjustment of the shift lever. Where the rod from the shift lever attaches to the transmission, it is held by two bolts in elongated holes and is to be adjusted with the transmission in neutral. Try this first.
