Alfa Romeo Repair: codes, negative cable, positive cable

Answer
Depends on the year. If it is a serious problem then the check engine light will flash. A common code set is the one if you leave the engine running while refueling.

You need a code reader to see the codes and Haynes has a code manual.

You can reset the ecu to see if the code persists.  Disconnect the negative cable at the battery, wait 5 minutes and then touch the negative cable to the positive cable for 10 seconds and then reattache the negative cable.
