Alfa Romeo Repair: metalic tapping, automatic transmission fluid, frequent oil changes

Hi Stephen. I have a 1995 alfa 155 2.5 v6 that                  has developed a metallic tapping from the top of the engine.Any ideas!                                              Thanks  Lee

Usually that noise is a sticky hydaulic valve lifter.  If frequent oil changes are done, this is usually avoided.  Quite often this problem can be cured by adding 1 qt of ATF (automatic transmission fluid) or Marvel Mystery oil to the engine oil then driving 500 to 1k miles draing and refilling with your favorite oil and then changing it at least every 4500 miles.
