Model: 1987 Spider 1600 engine

The car would not start after being washed. On inspection I found that the area around the ingnition coil and its connections had gotten wet. This included the control module. I inspected the inside of the control module and saw that it too was wet. I dried this using some tissue paper blot up any water and then sprayed the connetors with Contact Spray. I again removed excess spray using tissue paper, then reconnected and closed the module.

On ignition the motor turns over and a weak spark is delivered to the spark plugs. The car however does not start.

The car started without any problem prior to this incident.

Any clues as to how to proceed would be appreciated.

Thanks
Greg

I think you are saying that when you motor over the engine using the starter that you see a yellor spark at the spark plug tip with the spark plug well grounded to the engine. Is this a correct interpretation of what you said.

Answer
Also, do you mean an 86 with a 2.0 engine...
If all the grounds are clean and tight then I would recommend a new ignition module. But you might first try cleaning off the module with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) because it leaves no residue, is not a corrosive and will clean off the stuff you srayed before.
