Alfa Romeo Repair: 147 wiring?, negative battery, negative terminal

Question
I have a 2001 147 1.6 Turismo. Recently when I start the car up the speedo is dead and the fule gauge shows zero, plus the little indicator lights on the dash don't flash. This problem happens about 40% of the time I start the car up, other times they all work fine. Is this a probelms with the wiring do you think?

Answer
Clean the battery terminal connections. Leave the negative terminal disconnected and remove the instrument panel to disconnect and reconnect all the connectors on the instrument boards. This usually corrects the problem. Only a small amount
of corrosion will confuse a digital signal. Oh, yes, now reconnect the negative battery terminal.
