Alfa Romeo Repair: Clutch fluid, clutch slave cylinder, european automobiles

Question
Good Day, Sir...

Just bought an 85 spider... I'm an Alfa fanatic, but its been a while since my last so I'm a little rusty...
When I brought her home, the clutch fluid was low... fortunately, yet unfortunately, my father-in-law was visiting and he topped the fluid off with DOT 3... is that going to kill the seals?
also... it seems that the clutch slave cylinder is a little loose on the bleeder screw side... is this normal or is it shot?

Thanks muchly,

George

Answer
I only use Castrol LMA in most European automobiles. That said, a little dot 3 is not the end of the world. However,
it is a good idea to flush the hydraulics every 2 to 5 years.
Flush the system by pumping through the Castrol LMA until
the exiting fluid is very clear.  If the slave does not leak
fluid a little loosness is ok.  By the way, flush the brake
system the same way.  98% sure that this was never done.
