Alfa Romeo Repair: spark plugs, alfa romeo gtv 6, throttle position sensor

Question
I have an "82 alfa romeo gtv-6, my problem is the spark plugs keep getting too wet and foulded up so after two days the car seems to be out of gas when trying  to start, if it starts then it won`t throttle for long, what do you think may be the problem or problems.
Looking forward to your response, thank you.

Answer
Warren,

What are the plugs wet, with?  I'll assume fuel.
There are lots of things in the Bosch EFI, that can cause an overly rich mixture.  I need to ask you a couple questions before we start searching for the problem.  I don't know you, so forgive me if I insult you with something too simple.  I can talk you through the entire thing if you have some basic knowledge, but it might take a few written exchanges.

Can you tell if the car is running rich?  Black sooty exhaust or burbling when it's running?

Does it run good when cold or warm but not both?

Do you have a Volt/Ohm meter?

Has the car been sitting for a long time, without being run?

Do you understand the system and what, and where the various components and sensors are?
Cold Start Injector
Throttle position sensor
Engine Temp sensor
Air Flow Meter
Aux. Air device
Thermotime switch
Fuel Pressure Regulator

Not trying to make this complicated, but there are lots of things to check and you sort of have to know where they are.  If you don't have any idea, I'll talk you through it.  It will just take longer.  I'll be near the computer most of the weekend, so if you work on it, I can get right back to you.  Don't be intimidated, it's really pretty simple.

If it's OIL on the plugs, then we have a whole new ballgame.  Let me know.
