American Motors: 1969 AMX question -, amc cars, rusted areas

Question
Mr. Pilotte,

I run across this site and have enjoyed reading your many answers to all kinds of questions. First, I want to thank you for you time to do this service for the general public. Just so you will know -- THANK YOU!
I have a 1969 AMX which has been sitting up for at least 15-20 years. I got the car and must admit, left it to the elements and the body is rusting. Think it would be best just to make a parts car out of it? The engine, trans and drivetrain are OK. Just looking for general thoughts. Once again, thanks for the thrill it is to read about the older AMC cars.

Answer
How much money do you want to spend?
One option would be to find an AMX with a good body and transfer your drivetrain and other components to make one good one.
If you're good at body work, you can fix the rusted areas or weld in panels. Once again, how much time and money do you want to spend?
Anything is possible if you aren't limited on funds.
