American Motors: 1979 CJ7 258-6 Problem, fuel pressure gauge, carburator

Question
Problem is at a constant speed above 50 mph the engine will lose power as if starved for gas. This also happens on acceleration through the gears if too much pedal is pressed.i`ve had the carburator rebuilt, new fuel pump and filter, new cap and rotor and plugs and ignition module. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe

Answer
It is possible the engine is starving for fuel. Check the pick up sock in the tank for contamination. Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and drive the Jeep on the highway. See if the pressure drops. It shouldn't.
Also, the carburetor might have been rebuilt, but was it properly adjusted? i.e. float level, metering rod, choke, etc.
