American Motors: amc 304, head bolts, bolt holes

Hi i have a 1980 cj7 with a amc 304, my question is should coolant be comeing out from the valvecover bolt hole on the head? I was replacing the valvecover gaskets when i saw coolant coming from the valve cover bolt holes on the head.

NO. You can blow out the valve cover holes and making sure that they are dry, put some sealer on the bolts and re-install them and wait til they dry.

Most likely you have an intake manifold leak and possibly a head bolt leak whereas antifreeze, Whereas the intake gaskets may be leaking and or the head bolts need to be sealed and re-installed.
