American Motors: tachometer, dodge neon, amc vehicles

ok i bought a apc tach and for some reason i can't figure out where the ignition wire goes i have tryed to hook it up to the coil and i can get some reading on the tach but i know that im at about 6or7 rpm's and it is only saying that i'm at 2 1/2 rpm's what going on if you can help please let me know thanks. sorry this is on a 1995 dodge neon moter 2.0 sohc

If you were connecting your tach to an car made by American Motors, like a Pacer, Gremin, or Matador, I could help you out. I answer questions about AMC vehicles. The ignition system on a DODGE Neon is completely different than an AMC's. Thus, hooking up a tach is different. I do not have experience with Neons.I would suggest you ask your question to the DODGE/PLYMOUTH expert. Incrrectly hooking up the tach could damage the tach. Good luck.
