American Motors: Ignition Coil 87 Eagle, coil wire, repair manual

Question
I need to replace the ignition coil...  it looks fairly straight-forward.  I don't have the repair manual.  Is there anything special I need to know (I don't work on cars - I just know the basics).

Answer
It's a basic remove and replace procedure. Disconnect the wires from the original coil, pay attention to which terminal they go to. Bolt on the new coil and reconnect the wires in the same position. There will be 2 smaller wires and a larger coil wire in the center that goes to the distributor. Make sure you replace it with the proper coil. Don't buy a cheap, generic coil. i.e. Echlin, Accel. You get what you pay for.
