Audio Systems: 1993 Chevrolet c1500 radio swap, walmart stores, 1993 chevrolet c1500

Question
My friend and I are planning to change his old radio in his 93 Chevy. It is a c1500 model. We have ordered the wiring harness and I have changed radios before, but I began to think about the power supply and how the new radios have a round port for the power to plug into. His old one is square and plugs directly into the board of the radio. Will we need to buy a convertor for this or can the wires be spliced together with a new round plug?

Answer
Yes, you can splice them.   Make sure you have them connected to the right spots in the car.  Maybe you have the wrong wiring harness; if it is made for the 93 c1500 it should be the right connector.  And, if the new radio comes with all its parts it should have a connector with pig tails.

Go to www.installer.com and pull up the wiring harness for the 93 c1500 and make sure you have the right one.  That harness used to be available at Walmart stores last I checked.

You can also find the connector diagrams, pin outs and wire colors on that web site.

Good Luck.
