Audio Systems: PA system, music reinforcement systems, sam ash

Hi,

I'm trying to find a PA for a band, just for small/medium venues, but I'm not sure what I need to look for. I've found a 400w system on eBay, but I'm not 100% sure if it's suitable. Is there anything else I should know before buying one?

You really need to do some research.  How many microphones do you use? Vocals or instruments only?  Percussion feeds or electric guitar, etc.   Sam Ash store is maybe a good place to start as they have lots of ideas for you.  For economy check out Radio Shack as they have low to medium price stuff.

And, check the Internet as there are lots of pages that deal with setting up music reinforcement systems.   Finally, in Las Vegas where I live there are complete systems for sale on Craigslist.com by people who are selling complete systems as they move up to bigger ones or going out of the business.  I have seen then for a few hundred dollars that would set you back thousands if you bot new!
