Audio Systems: explorer dvd, 2006 ford explorer, paying attention to detail

Question
Hi I have a 2006 ford explorer xlt. It has a factory installed dvd system which just broke. I can't find anyone to fix it other then to send it to Ford. I am looking into having it taken out and have an after market unit put in. I'm concerned that since i'm using my factory installed 6cd changer /radio that the new  unit will not work. Also the new unit will be smaller and there should be bolts holding the old unit which will leave holes in my ceiling. Will the new unit work with my factory installed radio system? Will there be holes in the ceiling?

Answer
Hi Sara.
In short, you can add an after market DVD.
As to the hole, there should NOT be a hole when done. Installation kits are available for this purpose.

For properly interfacing to any existing factory audio system; I would would call Crutchfield, first.

Explain your situation to them and they WILL find you an option which you will be very pleased with (there should quite a few options for a 2006 by now).
They really are top notch at this and are very well known for paying attention to detail the first time, being sure you receive all of the needed items for a seamless installation/upgrade.

Thank you for choosing Allexperts and if you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to ask.
