Audio Systems: Buying speakers to be used with Pioneer VSX-49, pioneer elite vsx, bookshelf speakers
VSX-49
Hi Cleggsan,

I don't have any experience when it comes to home audio. I have come across an old Pioneer Elite vsx-49 receiver from 1995. Attached is a photo of the back specs.

I am planning on finding some used floor or bookshelf speakers for this receiver and playing my tv through it but I am unsure of what I should be looking for as far as speaker wattage so that I will not blow them. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Chris

Answer
You can use any speaker wattage you want.  They blow out only when you turn the volume up too high!

But you may wish to purchase a good grade speaker so you can get good sound as if the receiver is working good you can get really good sound from it.

PS:  This is an 8 ohm amplifier so be sure the speakers you purchase are 8 ohms impedance or higher.
