Audio Systems: audio recording, high fidelity, pc speakers

Question
Dear Cleggsan,
I have recently compared the sound quality of the music I have recorded from the internet with the sound quality of the original music CD and have found that the music recorded by me has a much lower quality and even some distortion.Considering that the music recorded from the internet is in WMA and WAV formats,I would really appreciate if you would describe the reason for such a difference.

Answer
That is what you will get.  Compressed music is audibly inferior to full cd quality non-compressed recordings. Even the best level of mp3 and other formats are quite good sounding when listened to over small, up close PC speakers and on headphones and even pretty good in the car but when listened to in full size high fidelity, large room environment the sound is not good.

Further, the amplifying circuits used with the players and decoders is usually not as good as those used with full level audio systems.

I don't think you will get any improvement without very careful selection of the Internet system components.  I have found a great variation in sound quality from Youtube audio and various other downloads but, as above, they never sound as good as the full CD quality.

And, that's the way it is!
