ANSWER: So - just to help me narrow down what possibilities there are, I've got some questions...

What exactly do you mean by "barely any sound"? Is it really quiet? Are there lots of digital errors (pops and clicks)?
Has anything in your set up changed (gear-wise)?
Is the DVD player hooked into an A/V receiver? Directly into a TV?

Thanks

Answer
Well, if nothing has changed gear wise and it suddenly went quiet, you need to test whether it is the DVD output or the TV input that has gone bad.

Do you have another DVD player or a CD player that you can plug into the TV? If it seems to be at a normal volume level, you can assume that something is wrong with the DVD player. If it's still quiet, there's probably an issue with the inputs on the TV.

For either of those issues, you'll need to consult a local repair tech or buy new gear (sometimes it's cheaper to replace than to repair).
