Audio Systems: cd dvd, homemade cd, cd room

hi Cleggsan  I put a cd in to my cd room and its also a dvd on the cd   it takes  me to the prgram main program but when I want to play the music videos  it won't let me  nothing happens  

I put another cd with dvd on it in and it worked just fine

could it be the cd  maybe being scatched?  help thanx

If it is a homemade cd/dvd it may not have the right coding for your player - whereas the one that works okey maybe coded compatible with your player.  And, if the bad disc was a one-of from someone doing a dvdr they may not have closed it down correctly or finalized the recordings TOC.

And, yes, it may be scratches or defects on the surface of the disc - you can usually see them with the naked eye if you hold the disc up and let the light shine off the surface.
