Audio Systems: Premium sound system not working in my suv, mercury mountaineer, fuse panel

Question
I smelled a hot kinda electrical smell n a few seconds later My bass cut of and all I had was treble. I hav 97 mercury mountaineer with premium sound system. When my boyfiend pulled the trim down in theback he seen there is factory amp. He tried to locate a fuse on it but didn see one.  He said the ground wire was loose and he had seen spark. He tightened it but amp still not working. He checked the fuse panel and the premium sound system fuse was blown. He changed tht too n still nothing.  Is it blown? Can it b repaired?

Answer
I found this one in our question pool so I will do my best to assist you.
The loose ground is significant but that has been resolved.
I would call the local Ford/Mercury dealer (service center) and ask them if there are any hidden fuses or 'fusible links' which protect the amplifier itself.
Here is Fords support Number:
800-392-3673
If they tell you there are no such protection fuses which you have overlooked, it may be time for a new amplifier since it is 14 years old.
