Audio Systems: Onkyo dx-c200 cd changer not playing cds, optical pickup, optical head

This changer is not reading my CDs.  I WILL read and play the laser cleaner cd, but none of my audio CDs. I've tried quite a few of them. Obviously, I've cleaned the laser (since it DID read and play that one) Is there something else I can try to troubleshoot/fix this problem? Thanks.

I don't like the laser cleaner disks because they can sometimes be abrasive to the lens that covers the laser diode.  I am not suggesting it is the cause of the trouble, but it could be a contributory.

Most often the reading problem is associated with a weak laser or something to do with the optical pickup unit.  And, especially  so with older units such as yours.  You may want to speak with Onkyo about replacement of the optical head. It is not a DIY project due to the fact it requires special alignment to make sure it is focused correctly.

I have seen these units on eBay and craigslist for as low as $8 to $20 used.......   Although most of them are probably suffering from the same thing yours is.
