Audio Systems: analog fm stereo tuner, heathkit ar, micro particles

Question
Hi-I have a Heathkit AR-29 stereo receiver that I built back around 1970. Every so often I would have to spray the tuner "fins"
with tuner cleaner to keep FM reception. This always worked. This last time I sprayed the fins with DEOXIT D5 and have totally lost
all fm reception. The AM reception has not been effected by this and works quite well. Do you have any ideas on what I may have done to the FM section of this tuner ???
 Thanks for your time,

Answer
Get a can of air or freon and see if you can blow out the debris that is causing the high frequency leakages of the tuning cap.  That should clear it up.  FM works at a much higher frequency than AM so while it may be working fine in the AM band it may be shorting down or going way out of tune in the FM band.

The I don't recommend you use any chemicals on the plates.  Such chemicals may be causing more trouble than good.  Use only forced air to clean out the dust or micro particles.

Hope this helps.
