Audio Systems: speaker crossover, crossover settings, crossover points

Question
I bought a pioneer AVR receiver which has crossover settings.the problem is I have a pair of speakers without any crossover references.what should I set the receivers crossover without doing any damage.Thank you John

Answer
Woops. You did not give a model number.  Every receiver is different and they don't all have the same features and technology.

If the crossover points are for the addition of a subwoofer you can proceed normally as this is usually for adding a sub and does not effect the frequency range of the regular channel speakers.

If the crossover points are for bi-amping of the main channel speakers you must have an amplifier for each crossover section and the speakers must be wired for two amp feeds, usually for the low end and the high end.

But, you can figure this out by reading carefully the speaker hookup arrangements shown in the owners manual.

If you do need more help you must give me the model number for the AV receiver and the speakers in your follow up question.

Thanks.
