Audio Systems: How to hook up speaker pairs to computer and/or TV, external amplifier, ohm load

Question
I have a pair of Sony SS D115 speakers (6 ohms) and a pair of 8 ohm Venturer speakers. I only have the speakers themselves and there are two little attached wires coming out of the back of the speakers. How cam I get them to work and hook them up to my TV or my computer?

Answer
Since the Sony SS D115 speakers are 6 ohms impedance it means that they are not self powered and, therefore, need an external amplifier.  The amplifier must be capable of driving a 6 ohm load and if you intend to put the 8 ohm speakers in parallel that would give you a load impedance to the amplifier of about 3.5 ohms making it necessary for a 4 ohm rating (which should be close enough).

Then you can connect the low-level rca output from the tv or pc to the input of the amplifier.  And, away you go!
