Audio Systems: 1996 Nissan Bose stereo - no power, nissan bose, volt ohmmeter

Question
I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima with the factory installed bose
CN503 stereo.  The other day the stereo just went dead.  No
indications of power to the unit and power antenna not
functioning.  Checked bose and audio fuses and replaced
both.  Still no luck.  Is there a reset button or unit or
inline fuse ??  Any ideas on other likely causes.  Thank you
for your time

Answer
Do you have a VOM (volt ohmmeter) and do you know how to use it to take voltage measurements?  (You buy them at Walmart and Home Depot - and other places - for under $10).

Then, take voltage measurements at the amp to see if you are getting the 12v required to run the amplifier. An often found problem is the remote turn on wire is broken, disconnected, etc.  or that the ground on the amp has come loose or is not a good solid ohmic connection.

The amp should go into protection mode if there are shorts on the speaker line so check those out too.

Happy hunting!
