Audio Systems: AKAI, akai remote control, north syracuse

Question
system says too many replies and I should re-ask:
QUESTION: Yes the AKAI is connected to the DVR and I change channels, volume on the DVR which sends info to the AKAI monitor.

I turn the AKAI on with DVR remote or AKAI remote,(I then turn on the DVR) I change source with AKAI remote.  The DVR remote's AKAI function which I set up doesn't work either for AKAI.

I unplugged AKAI over nite for 8+ hours and no luck this AM.

Does the Infrared connection have anything to do with this?

Tks again for great, professional help.

Answer     I am confused. In your first question you state the remote is not working but now in this last post it seems to be working either with either remote!

Are you getting only power function from the remote?  Is that the problem?  If so, the code for the remote is not the right one, maybe.

Try a different code setting for the remote.

the DVR remote works fine, I manually turn on monitor because monitor remote doesn't work.  I tried new batteries, and different programmed remote, no luck with monitor.  One thing, when monitor is off I see a small red, led lite and when it is on, the light on is green.  The green "on" function isn't working either but image is viewable on screen.  I still can't change source manually either.  I unplugged monitor for 6 hours and no luck when powering it up.

tks so much

ANSWER: I am still lost on what the problem is. Can you tell me specifically what the problem is?  Does the Akai remote control operate normally for the Akai unit?  Does the DVR remote work properly when operating the DVR?  If not, explain what is not working to me so I can try to understand if it is a system problem (hookup or I/O configuration), remote problem or IR receiver issue.

Thks.

QUESTION: I would like to call you possible, my phone number in syracuse, NY area is .

Anyway, the AKAI remote doesn't work, the DVR remote works fine but will not turn on/off or select sources for AKAI which it did before.(U use manual on/off on AKAI now)  I put in new batteries for both also.  The remote (infrared unit) on the AKAI appears to be disabled.  There are 2 lights on AKAI, red signifying off and green, signifying it is on.  The green doesn't work either.

Sorry for the pain the neck questions.

Answer
It is still not clear to me what the problem is.  You did not answer my question:  Does the remote for the DVR operate correctly the DVR? And, does the remote for the AKAI operate it correctly.

If, based on what I think(?) your last answer is, the AKAI remote does NOT operate correctly the AKAI unit.  And, furthermore, the power lamp is not coming on - well, dah, that means the set is not coming on.  It could be the remote is working fine but the set has a bad power supply.  Back to the very first comments about the remote vs the power button on the front panel.  If the power button operates the set on and off then the problem is more likely the remote.

So, you clearly have either a bad IR receiver inside the AKAI OR a bad power supply inside the AKAI or both.  It must be serviced - in my opinion.

PS: I am traveling extensively now and not easy to telcon; but maybe later after landing in my office.
