Audio Systems: Bose 6 disc car stereo, product connections, bose products

Question
I have a 2003 Suburban with a factory in dash 6 disc Bose stereo. When I intalled a 5 disc it made clicking sound as it accepted the disc. It did not show that it took the disc and them became non resposive to any command. It will only play the radio and shows no sign of response when any play or disc command is given.

Please help

Thanks Ken

Answer
You may get it going again with a reset.  To do this you must completely remove power from it for 30 seconds or longer then power it up again.  Easiest way to accomplish this is to remove one of the cables from the car battery.  This will kill power to the entire vehicle so make sure you have the anti-theft code if your Suburban has that for this radio unit otherwise you will not be able to power it back up!

If you can get the disc out check it for warpage or if it is a homemade cdr there may be a stick on label that is causing the trouble.

Sometimes with the Bose changers the only way to fix is to replace the unit.  You can google around to carstereohelp.com, partydown.com and oemcarstereo.com and maybe find a replacement but they are hard to find and hard to repair.  I don't like Bose products, sorry to say, because they are non-standard, non-conforming designs and don't accept other aftermarket product connections.

Hope this will help.

PS: Get a second opinion from Ernesto as he has good practical experience with this problem.
