Audio Systems: Subwoofer box for good sound quality, kicker solobarics, middle doors

Question
Jerry, I recently purchased three 08s12l7 kicker solobarics and got an amazing deal on a Memphis kdx4000 mojo amp to drive them. My source unit is a pioneer p780 and I have jl audio 6.5 components in the front and middle doors of a 1999 chevy suburban. No amp just yet on the components. My question is in regards to the sub box. I want good sound quality and decent spl from the l7's. They are dual 2 ohm so I'll wire them down to 1.34 ohms which should put the mojo amp pushing just over 3500 watts to them. Should I build a common chamber box or three seperate chambers? Do you have any opinions regarding box size/air volume per speaker for the best balance between sq and spl? I've run the same speaker before in a three cf vented box with a bmf1000d and it had phenomanal spl but was lacking greatly in sq. And the port noise....just awful. I'd like to run a nice sealed box for tight bass and decent sq and I figure 3500 rms on 3 l7's will just naturally give me ample spl. Thank you in advance for taking the time to help with your thoughts and opinions.

Answer
I would suggest going with separate sealed chambers for each woofer in high power applications.
Kicker's sealed, recommended box specs should be followed for each woofer if you want a combo of SQ and SPL.
A sealed array of speakers will play much much lower freqs than any mobile vented box.
They will also be better protected physically as they play those lower notes.

If the enclosures are done correctly and the amp/crossovers are properly tuned and you have a charging system capable of running this on the vehicle, be warned that Class D amplifiers will be the only shortcoming as to your total SQ in the lower freqs.

Best of luck.
