Audio Systems: 02 Mercedes E320 Install Problem, expid, current station

Question
Car has Premium Sound Package. I purchased a Alpine CM2299 and installed it in my vehicle. I removed a Becker BE6003. After installation I entered the cod and the head unit and CD changer work well. The new unit sounds MUCH better than the Becker. My problem is that me steering wheel controls do not work and I have to turn the radio off manually when leaving the car with the ignition off. I waited several minutes and it was still on after turning the ignition off and leaving the car. The info. center window located in the speedometer area shows AUDIO ----. It used to show my current station and I was able to change stations with the steering wheel controls.

Answer
We have not experience with the E320 and the Becker interface is non-standard so you should refer this question to Ernesto R who knows more about the steering wheel interface.  It is probably just an adapter kit to produce the digital data and installed  to the right place.

Ernesto R can be found here:

Good Luck.  Sorry not to give you a good answer - which is a rare event!

PS:  This device may be the solution, but check with Ernesto first:
