Audio Systems: Car audio, antenna connections, antenna wire

Question
QUESTION: I have a Pioneer DEH 455 High Power 35Wx4 Super Tuner III in my 1971 Volkswagon.
I removed the face as I always do when storing the car for winter. When I put it back on this year the radio will not work. I can play a CD with no problem. I hear some static when the radio is on but no stations. I have check all wires and anntena??
It came with the car when I bought it last year and worked great. I have no manual of course. Hope you can help-

ANSWER: Seems the antenna wire is not connected or has corroded in some way so as to not let the antenna signal get into the tuner section of the radio unit.

Storing for the winter could very well be the reason why the connections have failed.  You will need to check out the antenna connections at the mounting place on the car as well as where it connects to the radio.

Hope this solves the problem.

QUESTION: No help-checked it all out and no corrosion of any kind. I guess I will invest in a new antenna and see what happens. Hate to spend the money but have to start somewhere I guess. Thanks anyway-

Answer
If not the antenna it could be the tuner section of the radio but that is not a good sign either as the cost of repair for that is $$$.

If you choose to buy a new antenna just plug it in and hand hold it to verify it is working and you are getting audio.  If still no audio take the antenna back.  Maybe it is the tuner section of the radio....

Best wishes.
