Audio Systems: Phase linear multimedia system uv7i, digital data stream, google search

Question
can't watch dvd's in my Phase Linear multimedia system uv7i it loads and the message is:
Incorrect region code. I can't find a manual or a code to bypass this. Not sure what code it's looking for or how to do this...Where can I get a owners manual...Jensen UV7i HELP

Answer
Region codes are embedded into the digital data stream of the disc.  The hardware player circuits are programmed to read discs only for the country code of your purchase. If this unit was purchased in the USA and intended for USA usage it will play discs coded for region 1 or universal.  If the dvds are from another country, such as UK, they will not play on this device.

You can read about the region code assignments here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

So, are the dvd discs from a foreign country?  If so, that is the problem.

You can download the manual from the Internet.  A google search will find it (try the retrevo.com site for a free one).

Some units that are sold in other countries have a code changing capability but those sold in the USA are not changeable.  They must have discs made for the North American market in order to play. (Assuming the player is not defective).

Let me know if there is more to discuss.....
