Audio Systems: dvd player, chrysler town and country, walmart stores

Question
We just bought a used 2005 town and country limited.  It came with all the bells and whistles except for the Video screen.  It appears to have the DVD player in the front counsel with the radio and navigation system, but no screen.  My husband picked up a screen to install from a salvage lot, but is frustrated because he can not figure out how it should attatch. Can you help?

Answer
Can I assume it is the standard OEM unit that came with the car when new (rather than an aftermarket one)?

The screen on the dash will show nav information only.  DVD movies will play on back seat or overhead screens for those in the back.  It is unlawful for entertainment video to play for the driver.  Are there back seat or overhead screens?  Are they working?  Some cars will allow (I don't know about yours) video to play on the in-dash screen when the car is in park and the parking brake is on, but not when the car is moving.

Here is the stereo wiring information - which may or may not be needed for what you are doing:

There are cables that connect between the in-dash head unit and the displays; these cables are plug and play.  If you go to www.installer.com there are brackets, cables, adapters and all kinds of items for help in installing and connecting.  It takes some navigation around the site to find it, but it may help.

As for attaching the unit,  it depends on if he has the in-dash display or the one for the back seats......   If the car was originally equipped with the display and it was removed there should be a place where it mounts to the original mounting hardware.  There may be clips or springs of some kind; installer.com will have the installation hardware as well as crutchfield.com  or, in some cases you can find mounting hardware in PepBoys, Autozone and various car parts places.  Even some Walmart stores have installation kits for many makes.

Well, I have wandered around abit trying to help, trying to find something that will help but without knowing which display he has and where it is to be installed this is the best I can do.  Let me know if you need further help, but give me more detail about what is going on.
